Do you reminisce? or are you in the throes of bringing up your children?
I love being a mum and for me things didn't get harder as my daughter grew up, they just became different!
When my daughter was little, successfully going for a wee in peace was a major achievement! You know what I'm talking about!
Over the last twenty years (Where the heck did that go?!) I've made mistakes and I think I've learned from some. So yes, you've guessed it, I'm going to share some of my funny moments with you, BUT don't worry, this website isn't big enough for all of them! 😆
Then when you're frantically nodding in agreement I'm going to share some little things that when looking back, I'm glad I did. 🙂
Here you go...
I remember such moments well and this is a short snippet of some balancing acts of my parenting, extremely short snippet!
But rest assured, amongst the juggling I learned that some things just don't matter and others really do.
We're all different in our parenting and I'm sure you relate to my points ↑↑ Yeh sure, there are things I wish I hadn't done but that will keep because this post is long enough already!
So joking apart, let me share some of the little things I'm glad I did.
Sometimes we'd swap film night for games night and spend the night laughing over board games and making up our own versions of them!
So finally, (a long blog post I know, I even had to eat a magnum as fuel!) this isn't me telling you how to bring up your children! I'm simply reminiscing over good times and thought I'd share some crazy moments that I can remember and some things that worked for me.
Being a parent is one of the best things, and one of the hardest things!
Enjoy it because I can tell you, time really does go fast!
Happy reminiscing and happy parenting!
Have a great weekend all! 🙂
It's summer time! so tell us, how do you get holiday ready?
I can't bring myself to pay for a gym membership, well to be honest, even if I wasn't tight, I wouldn't go to the gym because I just dont want to! I used to jog but I'd need dragging out and sometimes my jogging partner and I would divert to the local wine bar! 😒
I've learned there's no point in doing something I don't enjoy!
Yes I need to exercise and yes all those people were right years ago with their "you wait until you're in your thirties" talk.
It's definitely harder, my love handles are gripable (made up word) and my food baby doesn't spring back as quickly as it once did! So I've chosen to walk and swim, exercises that I actually want to do!
My exercise tech is my Fitbit, if you've never heard of them click here! (Lots of options for different budgets and needs, it's one of my favourite things, and no I'm not on commission!)
I actually love it! ♥
I've been known to get in bed only to realise I'm 200 steps away from my target and so marching around the bedroom in my PJ's like a lunatic! Is it just me?
(A friend tells me it isn't!) 😉
Last year I did my first proper diet, I lost the stone, I went on holiday and felt amazing but I discovered just how bloody hard dieting is! Counting calories was such a bore but it made me learn about food 🤔 like did you know that a large glass of wine has the same calories as a donut?! I could eat three donuts in an evening but I wouldn't, yet I'd happily have three glasses of wine! Oops!
So I have the knowledge this time and forget weighing scales, a nagging relationship with my fitbit is enough to get me moving! and I reckon it's a more positive approach to buck up if my clothes get too tight instead of monitoring every pound!
Maybe one day I'll actually grasp the concept of consistency and be able to balance cake and healthy eating forever!
The reality is, exercise and eating well, really is a good balance.
My pre-holiday beauty regime.
The truth is, I don't really have one! I'm no expert in this department and I've always been a bit of a wash and go sort of person, a hair down one day and up the next day sort of person!
I don't bother with false eyelashes, false nails and waxings before I go away. I just don't have the patience.
I use a razor, I'll tan when I get there and I'll paint my nails before I go.
The most important bit of beauty prep for me is having my hair dyed beforehand, I definitely do not want the holiday sun reflecting off my greys! 😆
So what is my holiday prep?
Healthier eating ✔
Regular exercise ✔
Fitbit on ✔
Paint Nails ✓
Go on holiday ✓
So that's it, I'm holiday ready 🙂are you?
Would you visit a cafe alone? or does the mere thought of it make you feel nervous and uncomfortable? This used to be me, but I've seen the errors of my ways and had a word with myself!
Years ago, there was no way I'd sit somewhere alone, I was too timid. But between my husband working away and my own work, I'm often left to my own devices in new places. Trust me, when the hotel check-in time is four hours away there's only so much window shopping you can do! The options are, roam the streets or grab a coffee and although I'm all for acheiving my daily steps target, if it's raining I'm probably going to grab the coffee instead!
So if you too are like the old me, stick with me while I (have a word with you) give you my five top tips to survive the table-for-one scenario 😉
So there you have it, my 5 top tips on table-for-one survival! Now you're feeling confident get practising, practise makes perfect after all. You'll soon have favourites, I recommend those with friendly staff, free wifi and comfy seats that aren't designed to evict you by way of discomfort! No-one wants a numb bum!
