Okay so I started writing this at the end of July and it's already a week into August!
Life is crazy busy and that's my excuse.
Anyone else feel like they've had a two month holiday?
All hail the sunshine!
I'm certainly not moaning, eating alfresco with family & friends and wearing holiday clothes is fine by me but it's pretty unusual!
Maybe the seasons of England have slipped back into step like when I was a kid and we had real summers. ( I think...) On the first day of rain, after weeks and weeks of nothing, I took great pleasure in standing outside in it. I was tempted to do a little dance, but I didn't for fear of scaring the locals.
Right it's time to tell you what I've been up to in July, grab a cuppa...
The joy of other people's children!
Spending time with littlies is definitely an excuse for playtime, ice-cream and cuddles!
I had my 1 year old Godson for a sleepover and he tested the old nappy changing skills that's for sure! The smell did not match his cuteness! It was a poo explosion, (I figured that was better than saying sh!t storm!) a real, strip, bath and clothes in the washer moment and he simply looked quite proud of himself!
I also got to see my gymnast of a God-daughter in her annual show. There was so much talent in the room and I was both amazed and nervous at the same time watching her! I imagine we'll be seeing her in the Olympics in the future (No pressure gorgeous girl!) she has more flexibility in her little toe than I have in my whole body!
I spent some quality time with the gorgeous grandkidders, (I could just squeeze them now!) we coloured to our hearts content, we snuggled, we giggled and we baked.
I loved it!
So July brought fun with the kids and each and every one of them got handed back to their parents! ;)
What's not to like about sunshine and eating suddenly acceptable amounts of food in the garden? I love a BBQ and after so much sun, I'm struggling to get back into the habit of eating normally! (Portion control definitely went out the window!)
We've loved catching up with friends in the sunshine and how good to be invited to my daughter & boyfriend's for their first ever BBQ !
We lazed around, we were fed, we were introduced to Chubby Bunny
(See how many marshmallows you can get in your mouth whilst uttering the words chubby bunny!)
I definitely looked like a chubby bunny and very nearly died by way of choking on marshmallows! But it was simply fantastic.
(The day not my near death experience.)
Yes we have rain again and yes I've already enjoyed stew & dumplings and I've been soaked to the skin several times! But that's the Lakes for you!
Blogging shout out!
It was only three weeks into July that I realised it was Independent Retailer month! There are so many of those 'days of the year' but as you know, I'm already rolling with this one.
Yep I'm marching on with my Independent retailer blog posts and this month's shout out is Just Good Food in Windermere!
I yelled questions at Ewan and he shouted answers back while he was on the go, we got to talk all about his home cooked healthy food and I'd missed it all!
(No tasting today!)

This month 7 years ago, I got married!
It really is true, time flies but I can remember it vividly. We were married at the beautiful Swan Hotel & Spa and they really looked after us, from organising our day to providing last minute chocolate for a nervous fix and insisting I have a glass of water before I walked down the aisle.
(Apparently I looked a tad pale!... and like I needed the toilet...again!)
Apparently we should treat each other to copper and wool this year!
I'd actually accept some wool for my granny hobby (Crocheting) and I kindly put seven 1p coins in my husbands card to cover the copper gift. ;)
Oh and we went out for a meal at Mela, one of our favourites places to eat, it was yummy as always and we certainly slept well after our feast!
July is done!
Do you think we've had our summer?
How British! I started this post with weather talk and now I'm ending it with some!
(What can I say, a heatwave is big news round here!)
July has been a busy month, I'm a woman of many hats and they're definitely all being worn, I honestly don't know if i'm coming or going!
If someone wants to supply me with chocolate and cake to make it better (Yes of course that's how it works!) then please do. ;)
So come on, how was your July? Are you still eeking out the BBQ's or resorting to stew and dumplings? Let us know in the comments below and have a fab August!
Hands up if you love food!
I'm sat in the cafe/takeaway/madhouse that is Just Good Food.
(Ewan's own description!)
The simple signage outside this fab place tells it how it is, and if the words Just Good Food aren't enough to entice you in, then I don't what is!
In this homemade heaven of temptation, you can be sure to enjoy healthy food without skimping on flavour.
As I write, Ewan is spinning all the plates behind the counter (Not literally, that would be messy!) he's tidying up, taking calls, and prepping after another sell out day.
Considering he mentioned a spray tan when I mentioned photo's, he's looking quite pasty! 😆
Anyway, it's way past lunchtime and there isn't a morsel in sight, so I'll swiftly move on and talk good food with Ewan!
Where did the idea for Just Good Food come from?
I love food!
(Who doesn't?! 😋)
I've spent loads of time working outdoors and you know what the Lake District is normally like, windy and rainy! (A heatwave is unusual!) My idea was to give people a comforting pot of hot food!
So me and my other half Amanda opened Just Good Food in November 2016!
I've heard from a reliable source that some call you
