My name is Sarah.
I'm officially human again.
That's some declaration!
To be fair, some would question whether I've ever been human, (Yeh yeh) but recently I've been an alien even to myself!
The cause of this state of mind? Moving house!
Yep we spent August surrounded by boxes and to do lists and regularly needing something we knew we'd already packed!
They say (No I don't know who 'they' are) that moving is one of the most stressful things you'll ever do. I think they're right.
I know they're right.😒
There's the packing and being thankful that you'd already decluttered. There's the sadness of leaving your home, the excitement of a new home, especially one with a garden! (Yay!) The endless list of jobs and then you get the keys and have to do it all again in reverse!
And surely there's an easier way to change your address with a zillion companies!
Someone invent an app and the world will be eternally grateful.
(You're welcome for the idea.)
It's the little things
My daughter and I sealed our memories by having a night together and tucking into bangers & mash, obviously! 😊
'It will be my last meal here Mum!' Cue tissues.
We took photo's of our empty house, (The tidiest it's ever been) and said our goodbyes to rooms which held our whispers, chatter and laughter. I love the idea that someone else has fallen in love with our home as we've outgrown it, it's amazing really.
Moving has brought yet more little things to be grateful for.
(Drum roll please)
I can sit in my garden! Woohoo! 😁
(Doing a happy dance - Carlton style, you know the one.)
This is special stuff, I've sat in my garden, I've drank coffee in my garden and I've drank wine in my garden.
There's also a good chance that my neighbours have witnessed me doing a little jig, as I brandish pegs and smile like a Cheshire cat while hanging my washing out.
Like I said it's the little things.
Everything at once!
Not only had I recently got a new job and moved house, there was a holiday in the mix too.
My wardrobe situation was pretty hilarious, clothes packed for moving, clothes packed for holiday, clothes for days in between, it was like a chaotic launderette. Oh and of course the iron was packed... Apologies if you witnessed me looking bedraggled!
Anyway back to the holiday!
Predictably we went to Rhodes, our fave, and it was lovely to be back. We did have some 'moving house' jobs to do from over there, but hey if you have to get stuff done, why not do it by the Aegean sea?!
Oh guess what, guess what?
(Imagine me jumping up and down clapping my hands excitedly.)
We had friends join us in Rhodes! Not just any friends but friends that we met in Rhodes 18 years ago, lost touch with and found again! How good is that?!
Wandering old town like we did way back, re-enacting photo's from way back and yes, getting tipsy like way back!
It was simply amazing!
Back to normal.
What ever my normal is!
As I said, I'm human again, okay so the dark circles may still be visible but the alien me has left and I'm feeling good and settling into my new home. Life is good and our new home is definitely a happy one. 😊
We're already into September but who knows what this month will bring, I'll ease myself into making contact with the world again (Yes I've ignored it for a while, please don't judge me)
Hopefully September will bring autumn sunshine, country walks and candle lit cosy nights in.
Happy September people! 😁
