Thinking back to my friends hen do...
Donning our LBD's and hot pink sashes we gathered in reception to await our taxi. I was met with shocked gasps of "where's your coat?!" Their looks of concern implied my life span may be reduced by letting the Leeds cold weather chip away at my youth! Although I quite often take a coat to the pub (Lake district weather) I hadn't been clubbing in ages and was willing to sacrifice my warmth for not having to carry my coat everywhere and have drunken dancers spill their beer on it. I could do this, after all we were getting a taxi there and back what could possibly go wrong? Some of the girls joined forces, agreed and took their coats back to their rooms too. Girl Power! You've probably guessed, yes, as the taxi stopped the heavens opened, All of us fearing for our recently straightened hair, we made a dash for it! We hobbled to shelter and made it with or hair frizz free! I was quite pleased with myself, I'd made it right? no coat for me, I used to do this when I was 20! We came out of the club in the early hours and it was windy, not just windy but squeal inducing windy! We headed for a taxi and then I remembered...the tired and cold endurance of the the good old city taxi queue! It snaked up the street, it's clubbers wishing their turn would be soon, wishing the wind would stop, wishing the sun would rise early! The girls took great pity on me and huddled around like penguins, and luckily it wasn't too long before we were back in our rooms. I didn't get much sleep that night/morning, the slight cough that accompanied me to Leeds had developed into a bark and my nose felt like it needed to do one enormous sneeze! (sorry) So ladies, as much as I like to imagine I can behave like I used to, this time it didn't work out! I got home knackered due to coughing all night and surprised that my husband even let me snuggle up to him for warmth considering my germs! Here's to a great hen do weekend! Cheers! (raises hot toddy)
