After having a mermaid tail blanket pattern passed my way for the third time, I gave in and decided I'd put my beginner crocheting skills to the test.
Every time my lovely friend hinted in my direction I sneaked away from the conversation hoping she'd forget because those things looked bloody difficult! I mean one of them had what looked like a thousand crocheted fish scales! Well I may be exaggerating a little but they certainly looked tricky.
However, I'll give my friend credit, her enthusiastic hinting paid off because her little girl can now snuggle into her very own mermaid tail, hand made by me. (proud face) I managed to find a simple crochet pattern on line for the body and fin separately, added some shimmering beads and gave her the blanket for her birthday. She loved it! (I think her mum secretly wanted one too!)
My friends enthusiasm was contagious and I so showed her a shark blanket pattern I'd found, and the response was, 'yes my son would like to be eaten by a shark!" .
So I crocheted like the clappers to have it done in time for his birthday too.
I'm quite pleased with myself and the next time I receive a crocheting hint, I might just give it a go!
