Over the years I've learned that it's pretty pointless to set resolutions for myself!
I've tried the eat less junk/join the gym/lose a stone sort of resolutions and as with the majority of the population, by February I've conveniently forgotten what my resolutions are! 😉 I was quite inspired a few years ago when a new friend told me what her family do each year.
As the new year kicks in, her children and her make lists of what they want to achieve during the coming year. It could be paying a chunk of the mortgage off, travelling to a country they've never been to, having a savings target, getting a new job, anything! They then share their lists and throughout the year encourage eachother to work towards making their achievements happen. Who doesn't like ticking things off a list and even better than that, cheering eachother on as the ticks are ticked! (I love lists!) I loved her idea so I adopted it.
Forget blurry resolutions, I believe in enjoying life, making my life and I definitely believe in balance, I mean let's be honest, I adore cake and I like to enjoy a drink but if I swim and explore my beautiful surroundings then it balances out. My husband upgraded my Fitbit for Christmas and I love it even more than my old one! I have the Fitbit Charge 2 and I've always aimed to do 10000 steps every day and with this new one, if I sit on my laurels too often it actually buzzes on my wrist and asks me to take it for a stroll! Talk about guilt trip! It really works for me, I love it!
Today my husband and I decided we'd done a lot of Christmas sitting so we went for a long walk, (Post Knott, Brantfell and Biskey Howe) and tracked our way. 1 hour and 49 minutes later we had officially blown the cobwebs of 2016 away! (and the beauitful views from these places are worth the walk) So when I indulge in a slice of Christmas cake later I will enjoy it! Balance.
So here we are another year beginning and I've neatly written my list of what I want to achieve at the front of my new diary, a positive reminder of what I want from my year ahead!
What do you want from 2017?
