Do you remember whining about how January seemed to be a 68 day month?! It dragged on soooo long!
Anyone else now thinking, crap where did February go?! 😲
February means a million birthdays for me, okay I might be exaggerating a little but it does bring a whopping 9 birthdays! That means a lot of time spent in card shops, and me wondering if it would be too impersonal to buy a Happy Birthday message stamp so that I only have to add names.
I don't know about you guys but I'm the card person, you know, the one who checks the diary for birthdays, buys the cards, writes the cards, posts the cards. The reason? it's simple, if I left it up to my husband no-one would get one. He'd send them an email.
(And you thought my stamp idea was bad!)
Anyway, lets get to the point, February fun, February's simple things and simple pleasures, here you go.
Yes, despite my ranting.
Watching 25 little kidders, rosy cheeked and running around a play factory can only bring a smile. The simple pleasure of climbing and falling their way around the soft play adventure is innocence at it's best. Not only did it make me smile because they loved it so much, but it may have also been because seeing all those frantic parents made me rather pleased with myself for having already been there, done that and bought the t-shirt! 😁
My daughters 21st, 4 weeks of secrecy, 4 weeks of making a conscious effort not to mention the party and 4 weeks of broken sleep through thinking about food, decorations and my daughter getting impatient with the obvious lack of birthday activity!
Her surprise party went down a storm though and she loved it.
Mingling with the stars
Yep, an actual famous person!
For my husband's birthday I'd bought him tickets to an intimate gig with the beautiful Natalie Imbruglia. Not just any tickets but Meet & Greet tickets! I'll be honest it was a risk considering many years ago he often joked with our daughter about swapping her mum for Natalie!
I've never been to an intimate gig before and the simplicity of it made us feel like she'd just nipped round to ours for a jamming sesh. Also the fact that she'd, in my husbands words, been the soundtrack to our entire relationship so far is a special thing!
So we met her, she's beautiful, talented and so friendly, we had photo's taken with her and yes my husband made a copy and cropped me out! 🙄
Family & friends
Family & Friends is likely to always be on my simple pleasures list because those everyday little things are important.
One Saturday we spontaneously decided on a walk to Wray Castle and dragged our daughter and her boyfriend along. Sure it's a 9 mile walk but the steps would look good on our trackers and lunch at the castle before heading back would break it up.
Unless you reach the half way mark for lunch and the castle isn't even open... the 4.5 mile walk back wasn't as enthusiastic...😐
Inspirational blogging successes
Simply Sarah got nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Woo!
Simple recognition for inspiring others and showing creativity, I might be just a little bit chuffed! It's a great way to connect with new bloggers and pass the positive vibes between us all. To be honest, some of my family and friends don't really get why I blog, so the blogosphere is a great space to play in!
And...drum roll please... I also had my story about facing my fears published online by Get out Girl UK.
What a compliment!
Writing about my fear of water was not only therapeutic but a positive message to others and after overcoming my fear, my story is now inspiring people!
Again, I'm pretty pleased with myself! 🤩
So February is finished!
The shortest month of the year, the month of pancakes, Valentines and the Beast from the East!
I'm going to march into...March and embrace what it brings.
Head up, shoulders back, we've got this!
