I am that person who can end up chatting to anyone, anywhere! Shops, queues, loo's, anywhere!
A world that houses 7.5 billion people is pretty amazing right? All them people to chat to! Have you ever looked at another person and wondered what their story is? (Maybe it's just me!) Ever got chatting to a stranger just because? Billions of people and yet "It's a small world" where things happen to the same people at the same time and people just happen to bump into eachother.
(have a read of my post Do you believe in fate?)
Anyway back to my point! I like people, and yes I can talk (some would say for england, I was known as Miss Chatterbox as a child!) It's probably why I was successful in customer service. I can talk weather, compliment a strangers perfume/nails/outfit, I can give directions without being asked. I'm like a grown up over enthusiastic brownie! My husband calls it fish Talk! Picture a fish opening its mouth over and over with no volume, yep, that's his image of my 'talk about anything' illness!
I've been known to be overly peopley (made up word) Once I was crossing a road and there was an elderly lady hovering on the other side, she kept looking around and I figured she needed help...
"Excuse me, can I help you cross over?" I asked with my best 'look-normal-and-dont-scare-the-lady" smile. (Brownie badge here I come!)
"Erm, no... thank you, I'm just waiting for the bus" She looked confused and I think I may have insulted her! 😐
Another time, I was walking and several times saw a man bend over with his hands on his knees grimacing. I couldn't walk past, what if he needed help and I was his only chance of survival!
"Excuse me, are you okay? Do you need help?" I asked sympathetically
"Oh er, no thanks, I just get spasms in my back, I'm stretching them out" He actually looked embarrased that I'd asked and limped off quickly! 💨
So maybe those non-people people out there have got it right! Head down, walk on and get to where you want to be!
I'll admit sometimes, (lazy Sundays) I go for a day of hibernation simply because going out will mean I'll bump into people and have to chat and I just can't be bothered! (yes it's actually possible to be chatted out! even for me!) And if I risk a scruffy Sunday walk it doesn't always work out, as soon as I don a hoodie, scrape my hair back and skip the mascara, sods law makes sure I bump into not one but several people I know!
Even at home, just recently at 7pm I declared to my daughter, 'Thats it Make up off and PJs on' Something I rarely do but it was horrible outside and it seemed right. So it was typical that as soon as I was attractively clad in pj's, thick socks, fluffy dressing gown and looking ill (no make up always = 'aw are you not well?') a neighbour knocked on! Yes, my cosy do-not-disturb-can't-be-bothered-with-the-world moment was lost in a frantic opening of the front door whilst hiding behind it in the shadows as to not scare the neighbour!
So being a people person is a nice little world to live in, imagining everyone wants to actually talk to you while talking back to them whether they like it or not! But sometimes it's nice to just ignore the world and enjoy a little quiet time, if only to preserve the voice for the next time! 😆
