Tell us, are you a romantic? What are you doing this fine Valentine's day? Whisking your loved one away? A romantic walk in the winter sun? Heading to work because it's Tuesday?
At the risk of controversially jumping on the commercial bandwagon, I'm going to admit I like Valentine's Day! Yeh the shops make a load of money and yeh we should love each other every day not just February 14th, who said we don't?! I enjoy being alive everyday and I'm glad I was born, but that doesn't stop me celebrating my birthday in case the shops earn too much!
To you non-valentine's-believers, let's be honest now, what about all the other special/commercialised days we have?
First up, Christmas day a special day for Christians and a festive excuse to enjoy loved ones and spend loads of money on eachother.
Birthdays - a great excuse to celebrate being born and spending loads of money treating loved ones.
Shrove Tuesday! - a meaningful day for Christians, and for the non religious a day of celebrating by spending money on food and gorging on pancakes because the day itself says we should!
Not to mention St Patricks Day which will mean something to you if you're Irish and everyone else is simply spending loads of money out on the lash!
And Valentines Day - an excuse to be extra romantic and shower those we love with treats! Even if you're not buying red things for someone you love, you singletons out there are celebrating with your friends or even two men named Ben & Jerry, You see the pattern here?
It's all celebrating! (and it's all spending!)
So Valentines day is no worse than any of the other 'commercialised',or as I like to call them, 'special' days that we enjoy! 😉
So for those who can't stand Valentines day a big Happy Tuesday to you!
And for those who embrace this red infused-soppy carded-kissy-romantic special day, I hope you didn't get treated to a bouquet of dead flowers or anything else on this list! 😆
From Simply Sarah a big full of love
