How beautiful is Cornwall?!
If you don't already know the answer than let me enlighten you! Think white beaches, an aqua sea, pretty harbours, quaint houses, friendly people, history, nature, the list is endless. The naive me never imagined you could get all this in the UK, now I know, oh and there's even palm trees!
We awoke at Count House Cottage to a sea view and the heat of the sun enticing us to explore! Explore we did, 26,000 steps worth! (I love my Fitbit) The coastal walk to St Ives harbour is a pretty downhill walk and a thigh strengthing mission on return 😆 I loved seeing the harbour empty as we passed. The boats were like fish out of water waiting for the tide to come in and then leisurely bobbing around on the water when we returned. During that time we'd walked, our feet in the sand, the sun on our faces along the beach that was now hidden.
We ate gourmet fish and chips, ice cream and had a delicious meal at Rick Stein's restaurant in Portleven, perfect. One day it was overcast but we optimistically ventured out without jackets and it rained. (obviously) My husband decided to buy a hoodie, but me, I was adamant I'd be fine. As we walked along the pier he spotted my goosepimples and chivalrously wrapped his new hoodie around me, (bless him) He was freezing while I had sleeves dangling around my thighs like a child wearing their dads coat! I obviously told him how snug and warm his hoodie was while he shoved his hands into his jeans pockets. 😆 He might have announced that this was the perfect example of 'you're so low maintenance, you're high maintenance' (have a read to see if you agree) 😆 I'm reluctant to admit that I ended up buying a hoodie 😒
Anyway, enough about that 😉back to Cornwall. Between St Ives, Portleven, Lands End and Moushole (Advice: don't drive to Mousehole in a pickup, maybe opt for a smartcar to avoid embarrassment!) I've discovered beautiful places and vow to return to such a stunning place, especially now I know a 35 minute flight is an option! Something we learned as we were about to embark on what turned out to be, a ten hour Bank Holiday Monday drive home! (I know, we should have known better!)
So the reason for my blog post is to encourage you to explore, discover the beautiful places right on our doorstep. I'm all for holidays abroad, in fact I may be addicted but I'll now be making time for my UK adventures too.
