Okay so I'm struggling,
'With what?' you might ask 'you've just been on a gorgeous holiday!' I know I know, life is good and I'm not complaining. It's just this,
I have a sweet tooth, not just one tooth actually, a full flaming set, my entire mouth tingles as it cries 'give me sweet treats!' (Squeaky evil voice)
Yes I know the logic is don't eat the bad stuff, it's easy right? Don't buy it, don't put it into your hand, do not put it into your mouth...
So I don't have chocolate and cake in the house because otherwise it's there to be eaten (Yep no actual stamina!) If I fancy it I have to get off my backside and go and buy it. But if I meet friends or visit their houses, 'oh go on then, it won't hurt' or if my daughter offers me her bad food, 'oooh yeh one will be fine'!
This is me.
I told a friend that I couldn't stop eating and craved sweet stuff and she kindly suggested duct tape!
I actually choked on my coffee! I then pondered the additional lip waxing benefits... well I am nearly forty I could get a head start!
Okay I am trying... I'm back at swimming next week and I'm getting my steps in but how to stop those sweet cravings? I have my dinner and then immediately think how nice it would be to have a pudding! I don't have pudding every night, I really don't but I always think about it.
What is wrong with me?!
So I'm asking you, yes you my loyal (Or pained 😆) readers, my 'tell it how it is' friends. What is the answer?!

So nourish by her shared a new recipe this week and it's even better than the banana ice-cream!
Banana, peanut butter and choc bites
Cut a banana lengthways, then into chunks (as if it was still whole, rounds if you like) Then here's the magic, spread a half with peanut butter, sandwich the other half on and coat in melted dark chocolate.
Freeze for a couple of hours and Voila!
I had nearly all of these things in yesterday so bought some dark chocolate and got to work. It took me no more than ten minutes and after dinner when I was dreaming of pudding, I had these!
They're honestly delicious! I'm making more tomorrow.

Healthy, tasty, even chocolate! and I love it when a recipe uses stuff I actually have in my cupboards!
So while I maintain banana sales for my local supermarket, give me your ideas,
how do you eat sweet but stay healthy?
What do you suggest? and don't be sending me duct tape!

Hello, long time no speak!
I'm wearing socks and I'm wearing a hoodie, Yep I'm back in England.
To lighten my post holiday blues I'm going to babble on about my trip and drop in a few gorgeous photos along the way 😉 I bet you can't wait!
It's no surprise to our friends and family that we went to Rhodes, we love the place! There's no getting bored of it, as someone asked before we left 😆 We like it's familiarity, we see friends and aswell as visiting old haunts, there are always new places to enjoy.
We're not ignoring the fact that there's a big wide world out there, we like to explore new destinations but we always like to visit our favourite place.
On our flight out, an adorable little girl near us was obviously on her first ever flight. "Oh my god this is awesome!" "Look Daddy I can see the clouds" "Mummy are we near heaven?" So cute! And she's right of course, it is awesome, it never fails to amaze me that a giant metal container can fly from country to country in a few hours! (I can just imagine my husband shaking his head in despair at this comment)
She sweetly commentated all the way to Rhodes, and when I told her parents that she'd kept us entertained and was simply adorable, they asked if we'd like to have her for the next ten days! 😆As you can imagine, we scuttled off to our taxi promptly!
Fortunately (or unfortunately!) for you readers, we're not avid sun worshippers so I'm not simply going to write 'we went to the beach every day' on this blog post, it's going to take a little more writing than that! 😉
Rhodes old town is where we spent most of our days (can't help singing Fresh Prince here..) It's a medieval town full of restaurants and shops and loads of photo opportunitues. We started our holiday by visiting our favourite museum and The Palace of the Grand Masters, where we took photo's as if we didn't already have them from every other year we'd been! 😆
Wandering along the harbour looking for crabs and gazing out to sea while the sun warmed our faces was just so relaxing! We had beach days and swam in the sea with the fish and we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary by having a lovely meal together.
It was sweet when we returned to rose petals and a bottle of fizz on our bed, from the hotel owner.
We walked the castle walls, viewing the old town from high up, we wandered around the old castle moat in the baking heat, wondering where all the secret passages led. We revisited the ancient stadium and did some lizard spotting. We spent a few days in Lindos, a beautiful place for swimming in the bay and relaxing on the beach and we revisited the acropolis, taking millions (well a lot) of photos of the stunning views.
We also found a new favourite restaurant there, so good in fact that we returned the next day!
Just mentioning it makes me want to eat it all again!
We treated ourselves to a private cruise on a yacht, and it was so peaceful, we took some wine and nibbles and enjoyed the sea air, my husband even jumped in the sea and had a swim (I'm not that brave!) Being so free with the wind in my hair was bliss, that was until I turned a shade of green and christened the skippers toilet! (Sorry)The sail back was a little...sickly shall we say! I'd only managed one sip of my wine!
We drank delicious wine, ate amazing fish and sampled the sweet treats as we went. But the best part was finally getting the opportunity to meet our friends outside of work.
We've met a few people over the years through their jobs and working in hospitality out there is instense. So we managed to meet each of them and enjoy some time as friends which was just great.
The Greeks are so hospitable, you're welcomed whether you know them or not! They're a generous bunch of people too. It's not uncommon to order a small starter and receive a bigger one, After your meal when you sit back in your chair to stretch out the massive amount of food you've just consumed, you're often then presented with a dessert to share! (Lucky we we have separate stomachs for puds eh!) We ate so many meals that we eventually got a little fooded out so we began to have smaller breakfasts, we'd skip lunch and then venture out for an evening meal.
The only thing about doing this was we felt quite comfortable in the day but were hungry by dinner time which often resulted in ordering a starter! We'd then leave some of our main and worry that we might offend people if we didn't pick at the complimentary dessert!
Talk about eyes bigger than your belly!
After a Greek feast we'd go out for drinks, because that's what you do on holiday right? We'd pace our way through the evening and when we'd finally decide we'd had enough we'd ask for the bill (in Greek 😉) and we'd promptly be presented with another drink on the house! We were treated so well that after a couple of weeks we wondered if our bodies could take anymore!
(They did 😆)
Faced with temptations like baklava, beef stifado and ice cream topped with cream and melted chocolate, my body is far from ever being a temple!
In fact if anyone needs a soft cushion I now have one! My tummy! I'm not kidding, you could have a good old nap on there and be quite comfortable!
Oh the irony of posting a blog post pre holiday about how drinking a glass of wine was like eating a donut 🤣(hangs head in shame) If I declined treats from the lovely Greeks (unfortunately a rare occurrence) they'd look confused and say 'but you're on holiday?'
I love the the freedom of being on holiday, it's so easy to get up put on your shorts, choose a top and slip on your flip flops without worrying about the weather changing.
There's no need to clock watch, just eat when your hungry and go where you want. There's even something quite liberating about not watching the news for a couple of weeks.
It means I can forget the world and stay in my holiday bubble!
So I got to spend some quality time with my amazing husband, I'm a little bronzed, a little heavier and happier for seeing friends.
Rhodes is truly beautiful so be warned, my top ten favourite things to do in Rhodes will be heading your way very soon!
I'm now at home, eating banana ice -cream (blitzed frozen banana, v. yummy) to make myself feel like I'm eating a holiday treat, but with the hope of reducing the previously mentioned cushion of a tummy!
(and I might be not-so-silently still dreaming of Rhodes!)
